Halloween Honolulu!

Apparently Hawaiians LOVE their Halloween!!  The Honolulu Block Party was last night and the Waikiki party is today.  My friend Heather invited us to her place for eats and drinks before heading downtown.  It was a blast.  Lots and lots of laughs.  While I had my fun last night I will not be partaking in the festivities today.  I will be watching all the crazies from my pool looking down on the street below!  The evening was spent with 6 or 7 of us just chilling on the beach and watching the sunset.  Very relaxing Sunday night.  It was funny walking back to my place seeing Pirates, Witches, Avatars, etc walking the beaches.  One holiday down - 3 more to go!  Should be interesting to see the island turn Christmas.

Angie & Adam

One of my best friends and her husband are here from Seattle and I am loving every minute of my time with them.  Although I have to work; my nights and the weekend will be spent with them.  I know each of my post are filled with sunsets but here's a few more.  Tonight we made shrimp scampi and chilled in their room across the street at Illikai.  They have a beautiful view!  One more pic just to let you know I miss him! :)

Co-workers Girl's Night Happens Everywhere!

No matter what town you live in - the girls in the office like to get together and talk about the office. Haha.  Good thing all the ones I work with are pretty straight and arrow type of people.  Happy hour fillet mignon?  $4 bucks!  Fun Japanese style place - alot of fun.  Followed by an Irish Bar - we were a little confused :)

Quick Post - More Scenic Pics :)

Booked my first deal today!! Yeah - good to have it behind me so I can move on to lots more.  The co-worker that had the BBQ last weekend (Kelly) also booked her first deal today (on the operations side) so invited me over for a few glasses of wine to celebrate.  We realized last weekend while looking out from the rooftop deck that I live within a 2 minute walk from her so it'll be easy to pop over for a quick visit.  Even funnier - when I got home she waved to me from her window and yelled 'goodnight'.  Just to give you a vision of just how close we are.  Gotta make sure to close those blinds now - hahaha.  Here are some pics from the rooftop deck.  AMAZING.

Waikiki Cook Out

After ditching the PF Changs idea we decided to head to a co-workers house (who lives right next to me) to go to her rooftop deck and grill.  The view was amazing!  You can't see it in this picture but it overlooked the ocean and the entire city.  Breathtaking.  I finally got my cheeseburger that I have been craving and we chilled out for a few hours.  It's pretty cool to meet people out here.  Most of us were from CDM, one person was here to start his broadcasting career, another was an underwater photographer, and the other girl has lived here her whole life and told stories of her family and life here that were pretty amazing.  The hostesses brother gave us some good insight on the best, deserted beaches and the lowdown on Halloween here which is supposed to be pretty crazy.  It was a fun, relaxing night but the sun got the best of me from laying out all day that I'm hitting the hay!

First Friday

So Hawaii REALLY likes their Fridays.  EVERY Friday is 'Aloha Friday" around town which I guess just means TGIF.  Its said on the news, at theStarbucks when you buy your morning coffee, when you buy your first beer after work, etc.  Everyone so looks forward to their weekends here.  Probably because we work all week in paradise and finally the weekend comes and we can enjoy it!  Occasionally, the office embraces "Aloha Friday" which means its causal day as well.  On top of that the city celebrates a "First Friday" each month which, if its not obvious, happens the first Friday of every month.  The city turns upside down!!  I came in town the Sunday after the first "First Friday" so experienced it for the first time tonight.  I've been told it's something you want to do once and that will probably be enough.  They were right.  WOW.  We got off work after a late meeting, around 4, and the office opened a tab until about 7.  By the time I left around 8 every person that even looked over 21 was packing the streets trying their hardest to get as drunk as possible.  It was fun to watch.  Two funny stories - 1) I was sitting at the bar with co-workers when a random guy walked up and gave me a big bear hug and kiss on the cheek.  He was the guy I see every day behind the check-in counter of the hotel I stay at - haha.  Good example of Hawaiian behavior at its finest.  2)Kelly, my coworker, almost stopped breathing next to me when she realizes that the main actor from Hawaii 5-0 was sitting next to us.  Alex O'Laughlin was sitting with his family eating pizza.  As he was walking out Kelly grabbed him for a photo op.  He was super friendly and gracious.  I like how Kelly looks like she is his wife in the pic, haha.  Fun night in all.
