Josh was here last weekend and it was SO nice to see a familiar face. He stayed across the street in a big ole suite at the Hilton. We spent a lot of time hanging out on his balcony and catching up. I miss him. We were able to get to the north shore while he was here which made me happy. A group of us (11!) piled in cars and followed each other up. We had a great tour guide - my manager from work! He's been here for some time so took us the scenic route where we stopped to cliff jump (I took pictures), all the famous beaches, and finally to Haleiwa. We had lunch at a little shrimp truck on the side of the road. I swear some of the most beautiful places I ever have seen are on this island. I've included some captions below each picture. We finally got up to the North Shore pretty late in the day so I am VERY excited to get back up there and check it all out. We got up there for a few beers and lunch then headed home.
In the pic above you can see my friends climbing back up from the cliff jump. It was crazy. Some of us jumped, some of us never even gave it a thought (NO!), and some chickened out - haha.
The crew pulling over to see another site. A lot of movies were shot here on the island and this particular alcove was a famous scene from I think Casablanca. Can't remember though ;)!
Timmy at the Famous Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. YUM! Fresh Shrimp Scampi, two piles of sticky rice, and I SWEAR two pounds of garlic! SO yummy, but made for a rather smelly car ride home with 4 girls - there were lotso laughs though!!! Haha!!!
The beach you can see down the coast is called Sandy's Beach - the most dangerous beach in the U.S. The shelf stops so close to the shore that the waves literally crash on top of you even while not necessarily standing in the water! I've been told many stories about this beach while I've been here - they say to not even turn your back to the water while taking a picture. Many people have had broken necks and noses from a waving crashing down on the them and slamming them down on shore. Crazy!
